AWS offers undergraduate internship opportunities year-round.
Each year, we take approximately five students from different schools across the country and provide learning opportunities within our BHH program. Our bachelor students are provided with an immersive experience doing care coordination (case management) alongside seasoned professionals and working on an interdisciplinary team, where their input is as essential as that of any other provider. Our undergraduate students are trained in a variety of skills, including communication and rapport building, advocacy, self-reflection, cultural competency, critical thinking, time management, crisis intervention, assessment and treatment plan writing, boundary setting, and many more. The opportunities for new experiences and growth are vast in the placement that we offer. Students are provided with weekly individual supervision from a licensed clinician, as well as bi-weekly group supervision and continuous peer supervision within the team. Case management work is widely thought of as the foundation of everything that we do in the field of social work, and students always walk away from this intensive but rewarding placement feeling prepared and excited for the next steps in their journey.
